» With my American friends who created the project BIOSPHERE II,, we undertook to install the first waste water garden on the African continent in this friary in Algeria to show that a holy place can also be a place for cutting-edge experimentation and waste water management. » (Rachid Koraïchi).
The waste water garden was started ten years ago. Local people can harvest fruit and vegetables without having to feed and irrigate the soil; the system of filtration at the plant root does this. As a result of the Témacine pilot scheme, in 2013 the Algerian Minister for Hydraulics launched 150 waste water garden projects all over Algeria.
